As 2022 comes to an end, I have been reflecting on my choices this past year and find the process both enlightening and challenging.
I liken it to the annual “IN” and “OUT” lists that surface in the media, but with a personalized spin. What is it that I want to bring into my life and work and what do I want out? I plan to continue to ponder my choices over the holidays and to share my list thus far.
My hope is that you will make time in your busy schedule to stop and consider what you want in, and out, of your life in 2023. The possibilities are endless, so dig deep and create a path to a fulfilling new year.
Here is my list for 2023:
IN
- Self-care
- Fostering solid friendships
- Standing up for myself
- Choosing to say “no”
- Acknowledging my mistakes
- Accepting praise
- Planning a real vacation
- Neurodiversity training
- Publishing monograph
- Pleasure Reading
- Visiting family and friends
OUT
- Overworking
- Tolerating one-way “friendships”
- Playing small
- Pleasing everyone
- Being ashamed of my mistakes
- Undervaluing my accomplishments
- Taking my computer on vacation
- ADHD-only training
- Monograph drafts and editing
- Checking my phone
