March 8 is International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The 2022 theme is #BreakTheBias, focusing on gender equality and raising awareness about bias. As a woman in corporate America in the 1980’s, I regularly faced gender bias. I was complimented when I wore a dress and looked “pretty” and was told that everyone who worked for me decided that my success was due to providing “favors” to one of the company’s vice presidents! Gender bias is alive and well in 2022 and I am proud to be a woman business owner with a team of 16 women and 1 man who have joined me in the fight for diversity, equity and inclusion in coaching and coach training.
I celebrate their achievements, both individually and collectively, and I am filled with gratitude for their presence in my life as well as being a part of JST.
